Proof that there is a hierarchy even at the bottom, and the narrator sits at the top of it. A former big-box tech who works out of a Kia hatchback and hands out a card that just says 'PC GUY' and a phone number.

He charges by the hour, like a plumber, like a peasant, because he does not understand recurring revenue or The Seat. When he nods 'peer to peer' across the eggs at a chamber breakfast, he gets nothing back. They are not peers.
